The tiny village of 1.000 inhabitans of Castelmola is famous for its unrivalled and fantastic panoramic views. Here, even the spectacular view from Taormina are being relativised.

With its altitude of 550 m above sea level you can look over Taormina, the bay of Naxos till Sant Alessio Siculo. If you slightly turn to the right (North)  you can see the Etna in a way you will not see it elsewhere.

Castelmola with its manageable size is thorougly suited for a trip of several hours. Departing from Taormina you can reach Castelmola either after approx. 90 min. walk or within 10 min. by car or by bus.

Hiking in Castelmola

• This is a must-do for enthusiasts of hiking!

There are many pretty hiking tracks. But be aware! The climb up the moutain of about 1 hour must not be underestimated particularly not in the hot weather during summer. If you prefer going by car a winding road of 5 km length leads you to the small village situated above Taormina.

Once you have arrived in Castelmola you can enjoy the stunning view over Taormina, walk through the little alleyways or visit the medieval castle.
