Excursion to Etna and Alcantara Gorges

From Taormina, passing through the typical villages of Giarre and Zafferana to reach Etna South parking lot (1.900 m).

Visit of Silvestri Craters.On the return journey to Taormina, visit the extraordinary lava rock formations of Alcantara Gorges.

Optional: Excusion by cable-way and off-road vehicles, escorted by a mountain guide close to the central crater. Extra cost of about € 48,00 payable at the cable-way office

Excursion to Alcantara und Etna in Jeep

A fascinating excursion for all nature freaks!

Departure from Taormina for visiting the fascinating Alcantara Gorges (boots and waterproof trousers can be rented at the entrance).

The excursion goes on the Etna slopes with a first stop for admiring the last lava flow of 2002 (1.300m).

Afterwards through pine forests you reach Piano Provenzana at around 1.900m above sea level. On the way back stop at the vineyard for a typical wine tasting.

Etna Sunset Excursion

From Taormina to the village of Linguaglossa and its pine forest, arriving at Etna North parking lot.

Continue the ascent by Jeep escored by a mountain guide to enjoy a spectacular sunset from the top of the volcano.

Optional: stop for dinner

Excursion to Palermo – Cefalú

From Taormina to Palermo.

Visit the most important Norman-Arabic monuments (Cathedral, Norman Palace with Palatine Chapel or the Martorana, St. John of the Hermits).

Continue to Cefalù to admire the golden mosaic of its cathedral.

Excursion to Agrigento & Piazza Armerina

From Taormina to Agrigento. Visit the Valley of the Temples ( Temples of Juno, Concord, Hercules, Jupiter, Castor and Pollux).

Continue to Piazza Armerina to visit the Roman Villa del Casale, with its splendid collection of mosaics, amongst the best preserved of the Roman era. Return to Taormina in early evening.

Excursion to Syracuse

From Taormina to Syracuse.

First the Archaelogical Park (Greek and Roman Theatres, Hieron Altar and Paradise Quarry with its famous Ear of Dionysus).

Continue to Ortygia and visit the Arethusa Fountain and Cathedral, built over the acient Temple of minerva. Visit the Eurialo Castle and return to Taormina.

Excursion to Eolian Islands – Lipari und Vulcano

From Taormina to Milazzo.

Embark for Lipari and visit of the historical center. Island boat tour with short stops at the "Cave di Pomice" and "Faraglioni". Short sea trip to Vulcano with a chance to bathe in the sulphur springs or relax on the famous blacklava sand beach.

Embark for Milazzo and return to Taormina.

Excursion to Eolian Islands – Panarea und Stromboli

From Taormina to Milazzo. Embark for Panarea and stop at the port of San Pietro for vist or bath.

Departure for Stromboli with circumnavigation and stop at Scari until sunset. Transfer under the Sciara del Fuoco to admire the volcano eruption from the sea.

"Maccheronata" offered on board before return to Milazzo and then to Taormina.
